Vacation Creative Science Workshops
The 4th batch of creative science workshop was organised during 31st May, 2018 to 5th June, 2018 in the disciplines of Art & Craft, Model Rocketry, Science Toys Making, Electronics, Astronomy and 3 D modelling and Printing. The details of the workshops are as follows:
Workshop on Arts & Craft: In the 4th batch of Art & Craft 6 students participated and each students completed 4 projects.
Workshop on Science Toys making: The 3rd batch of Science Toys Making workshops was organised at the Centre during 31st May to 5th June, 2018 in which 21 students participated. During the workshop each students made 6 science toys.
Workshop on Electronics
Workshop on Electronics was organised at the Centre during 31stMay to 5th June, 2018. 21 students participated in the workshop and made 5 projects each.
Workshop on Model Rocketry
4th batch of Model Rocketry workshopwas organized at Centre during 31st May to 5th June, 2018 in which 24 students participated and each students made 5 different types of rocket model.
Workshop on Astronomy
The 2nd batch of Astronomy workshop was held at the Centre for the students of Std. 8th to 10th during 31st May to 5th June 2018 in which 26 students participated. 7 projects were made by each student in the workshop. The participants were also given the exposure of Science On a Sphere show on Astronomy.
3-D Modelling & Printing Workshop
3-D Modelling & Printing workshop was organised at the Centre during 31st May to 2nd June, 2018. 20 students participated in the workshop. They learnt the basics of 3-D modelling using 3-D Max software’s and designed their own models. They also learnt the basics of 3-D printer and the printing techniques. Some of the models designed by the students were 3-D printers.
World Environment Day celebration
World Environment Day was celebrated at the Centre on 5th June, 2018 by organising variety of programmes. “Beat Plastic Pollution”, was the theme and India was the global host of World Environment Day 2018. In the morning, tree plantation programme was organised in which saplings of various varieties were planted by the students in the premises of the Centre. Their after a workshop on making Paper Bags was organised. 120 students participated in the workshop and made 13 varieties of paper bags. This was followed by the film show on Beat Plastic Pollution in the reception area of the Centre. An open house quiz on environment and plastic pollution was also organised for the students and general public. In all 320 students and general visitors attended the programmes.
Art from around the World Workshop
As a part of vacation creative science workshop, special workshop Art from around the World was organised at the Centre during 31stMay to 5th June, 2018 for the students of the age group of 9 to 14 years.During the workshop, the students were taught different types of art printing techniques such as impressionist art using the techniques popularised by French Masters, print making work with carving tools, Indian patachitra style from West Bengal, Turkish inspired mosaic tile etc. 18 students participated in the workshop. The workshop was conducted by the resource persons from Pomegranate Eduworkshops Pvt Ltd.
Inauguration of Rolling Ball Sculpture Exhibition
The newly developed Rolling Ball Sculpture exhibit of the Reception Gallery of the Centre was inaugurated on 12th June, 2018 in presence of the special children from Ahura Support Centre and Santosh Institute, Mumbai. 70 students, parents and teachers were present on the occasion.
International Day of Yoga PhotoAlbum
International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the Centre in collaboration with the IyengarYogashraya, Mumbai and Visuddhi Films Mumbai on 21st June, 2018. In the morning, Practical session on Yoga was organised. This was followed by the Film screening on History of Yoga in the auditorium of the Centre. On the occasion, panel exhibition on History of yoga: Balance and Alignment was also organised. About 240 visitors attended the programmes.
BASE Workshop on Electronics based Science Experiments
Centre in collaboration with Bombay Association of Science Education (BASE) organised a 2-day workshop at the Centre for the teachers on 29th & 30thJune, 2018, on Electronics based Science Experiments. 28 teachers participated in the workshop.
Launching of new large format Film titled “Aircraft Carrier: Guardian of the Seas” in Science Odyssey
The Centre launched a new large format film “Aircraft Carrier: Guardian of the Seas” on 30th June, 2018 in its Science Odyssey facility. The Chief Guest vice Admiral Srikant AVSM Commandant, National Defence College, New Delhi inaugurated the film. The film is about the state of the art technology that is used in building the magnificent Aircraft Carrier which is used in defending the World’s oceans that has become far more complex & challenging in recent years, and naval aviation has become increasingly vital to its success. About 225 visitors attended the inaugural show.
