Innovative Thinking Workshops
Orientation session of the Innovative Thinking Workshop was organized for the school students at Innovation Hub of NSC, Mumbai on 26th October 2017. Students and teachers were briefed about facilities and the activities of the Innovation Hub. Hands-on activities such as making a cup helicopter and testing different materials like soap solution, soda water, vinegar, lime water, etc. for acidic and basic nature by using red cabbage, turmeric powder and flowers as natural indicators. 32 students and teachers participated in the workshops. Problems and puzzles on out of the box thinking and their solutions were also studied by the students.
Unity Day Celebration
To mark the Birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Unity Day was celebrated at the Centre on 31st October, 2017 by organizing various programmes and contests. The programmes include elocution contest on the topic ‘Role of Sardar Patel in uniting India’, slogan writing contest on the topic “New Technology: The Hope of a Nation for better tomorrow” and a written quiz on life and work of Sardar Patel. Prior to these, a pledge of National Unity was taken by all the Officers and staff members of the centre. In all 34 students participated in the contests.
As a part of National Unity Day celebration, film festival was organized at the Centre from 26th - 31st October, 2017 in collaboration with Film Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. During the period of 6 days, films on Sardar Patel, Lok Nayak – Jayprakash Narayan, Rebel with Cause-Ram Manohar Lohia, Gandhi- An emerging Reality, India Wins Freedom were screened. More than 18000 visitors witnessed the film shows.
Centre in collaboration with N. S. Vahia Foundation for Enhancement of Neuropsychiatry in India , Mumbai organized a seminar/conference for doctors in the field of psychiatry at the Centre on 29th October, 2017. Around 218 doctors /medical experts attended the seminar/conference.
Vigilance Awareness Week
Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed at the Centre from 30th October to 4th November 2017 with an endeavour to promote integrity, transparency and accountability in public life. This year’s theme is ‘My Vision : Corruption Free India’. On this occasion a Pledge was administered to all the Officers and Staff Members on 30.10.2017. Flex banners regarding observance of Vigilance Awareness Week were displayed in the premises of the Centre.
During the month, the Centre has extended the facility of package tour on advance booking for 1911 students and teachers of 20 schools. Apart from Science Odyssey, Science on a Sphere and 3D shows, they were given guided tour of the galleries, science shows, visits to innovation hub and spark theatre shows were also organized.
